Repertoire

Matias Fierro focuses on the repertoire of the Classical Era and German Romantic period. He has conducted many works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Carl Maria von Weber, Mendelssohn and Brahms among others. He is deeply interested in research done on Mozart from its very beginnings (Niemetscheck, Nissen, Jahn) to the present days (Robbins Landon, Tyson, Zaslaw). In his concerts he usually includes works that are seldom performed. As an example of this, he first conducted Mozart's symphony no. 34 KV. 338 and lately, the horn concerto no. 2 KV. 417 at the Gewandhaus, in Leipzig, Germany.
Mendelssohn has special significance in his musical activities; he has conducted many of his most important works for orchestra, such as the Melusine overture op. 32, the rondo brillant op. 29 and the two piano concertos opp. 25 & 40, the violin concerto op. 64 and the Italian symphony op. 90 at the Gewandhaus, Mendelssohn's music home in Leipzig.
