Biography

Matias Fierro was born in Argentina in 1985. His musical education began in 1988 at the National Conservatory in Buenos Aires. From 1990 to 2002 he attended the German School "Goethe Schule". During this time he learned music theory and ear training and took guitar lessons. Later he took piano lessons with Antonio Formaro as well as violin lessons with Eduardo Morandi. Matias Fierro studied orchestral conducting at the Universidad Catolica Argentina with Guillermo Scarabino (then artistic production director of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires) and Carlos Vieu (then conductor of the Teatro Colon Orchestra). As a pianist he has performed in Argentina and Germany and has also been active as a chamber musician.

Matias Fierro has completed various master classes with Gerardo Edelstein (Penn State School of Music), Arturo Enrique Diemecke (Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires), Jooyong Ahn (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga) and Vladimir Ponkin (Moscow Conservatory).


 

He has lived and worked in Germany since 2011. He has taken private conducting lessons with Fredo Jung (former general music director in Altenburg) and Georg Christoph Sandmann (former general music director in Zwickau). He was founder of the Camerata Bayers Orchestra at the end of 2012, which has been a registered association since 2013. Matias Fierro is currently Chairman of the Board and Orchestra Manager. He now organizes upcoming concerts for different ensembles and he performs as conductor, as well as chamber musician and solo pianist.

In 2015 he first conducted at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. Since then, he has been conducting many concerts in that famous concert hall.
